The Do’s and Don’ts of Lace

I love lace. And it’s everywhere. I can’t get enough. It can be so ladylike, or a little naughty, but usually classy. Sometimes, though, it is done wrong.

Lace Do’s:

Mixing with other dainty patterns - do do do! Extra points for the contrast in fits of her tops.

I love this look so much... the dress is so girly but still shows some skin, and the boots toughen it up. Summery, beautiful, LOVE

YAY for brights! By paring it with a classic top, she keeps it classy.

Satin + Lace = Ultimate Nice Girl Combo. The body-skimming fit keeps it modern

A little sassy, a little girly, totally glamorous!

I love how there's two colors going, and the top is looser, keeping it classy!

Lace Don’ts:

I hate this... lace is by default classy. Please don't trash it up by pairing a dark bra underneath. A dark camisole would be preferable to this.

It's so matronly, especially for someone her age.

WHY!? Why do these exist!?

Does it have a rooster neck? Yuck.

I wish these had even a tan underpart - the length of the pants, please! this just looks strange.

Her seasons are mixed up - the dress would have been so cute with brown boots! Nix those unflattering layers!

Do you guys agree with me? Let me know!

Smokey Eye Makeup

Hey guys!

Today’s thought of the day  is – smokey eye makeup! I LOVE the way it looks when it’s done right, especially the more subtle look on Diane, but if it’s not, it can be dreadful! That’s why I leave it to professionals, until I nail my own look 🙂

The Good:

And the bad… come on ladies! Do you own a mirror? Fire that makeup artist, STAT!

Eyebrows…The Good, The Bad, and The Just Plain Wrong

Hi guys!

Hope you all had a great weekend. 🙂

I am sure you are all aware of the importance a great eyebrow makes to the face – it can lift, remove years, and add instant polish. I was trolling the internet and realized how many bad eyebrows there are! So, I decided to make a post.

Here are some examples of admirable eyebrows! (PS – the natural look most likely won’t go out of style. That’s to you, Pamela Anderson).

And, of course. The BAD. Here are a few examples of what I think make poor eyebrows. Their identities have been protected for their safety. 🙂

And… the just plain wrong.

I just do not understand this look whatsoever.

What do you think? Any I missed (good or bad)?

China Glaze China Rouge

Hey Guys!

I just finished putting on some China Glaze nail polish in China Rouge and boy, am I in love!

It reads as a true red, which I love. A lot of reds in the bottle turn out looking too pink/magenta for my taste.

This picture is after a base coat, and two coats of polish. (no top coat). It’s so beautifully shiny.

The formula is great – not too thick as to cause a clumpy, globby mess, but thick enough that two coats is perfectly opaque and shiny.

I’ve heard good things about China Glaze’s wear time – but since I abuse my hands, I’m going to hope for 4 days before my first chip.

What’s your favorite red nail color? How do you feel about China Glaze polishes?

Blue Eyeshadow

Hey there!

Question of the day is.. How do you feel about blue eyeshadow? Outdated? Underrated?

Personally, I love it, though it can be overdone VERY easily. Maybe it’s just nostalgic for me… the first eyeshadow I ever wore was blue. As a pale wash, as a bold liner, in the crease for a little extra “oomph”, blue is just so versatile!

Day 1 of Clarisonic

Prepare yourselves…

Here’s my skin on Day 1 of using the Clarisonic Mia. As you can see, I have a number of breakouts, and these are the places where I usually break out, so it’s not like there is anything unusual about these.

I’ve heard that there is a “purge” phase of using the Clarisonic – has anyone had that happen to them? I’m hoping it won’t be too bad, but I’ve got some Sulfur Acne Treatment ready and waiting!

For the record – last night I used the Mia in the shower with Clean and Clear’s Grapefruit Cleanser. It felt phenomenal – like i could actually feel the product tingling in my pores, which had never happened before with this particular cleanser. I hope that was a good thing.

I’ll keep ya posted on what happens!

Any Advice on Using the Clarisonic Mia?

Okay… I caved. Today I ordered the Clarisonic Mia from in my favorite color.

Credit to!Queen of self control, I’m not. But I think it will be an investment. I’ve struggled with my skin a lot, and the reviews are so good, I couldn’t help myself. It was $119, and I got free expedited shipping.

Of course, I will keep you all posted on how it works for me. Have any of you guys tried this? Any words of wisdom? I’d love to hear what you all have to say!

Calling All Gold Lovers

I have found the golden holy grail of nail polish.

Not gold gold. China Glaze’s Snow Cap nail polish. LOVE!

On it’s own, it’s sheer. But layer it over colors you already own and – oh my god! So gorgeous. I have it on top of Love and Beauty’s light blue shade (no exact name sorry – that’s $2.80 Forever 21 polish for ya! It’s a baby blue). Last week I had it on top of a hot pink. I have no other words….

Try it out! Any fans?

What’s Your Best Skin Care Secret?

Hey guys,

Question for ya – what is your best secret for keeping your skin clear?

Mine would have to be regular exercise. I notice that after I don’t get at least an hour of cardio a week, my skin starts to deteriorate. For some reason, sweating it out seems to beat my skin woes. I think it is probably due to the sweating cleaning my pores out, but also because of the stress release that exercise gives me.

Another one of mine is regular exfoliation. I exfoliate once a day, or sometimes every other day, and that has always been a quick way for me to get my skin cleared up fast. I recently starting using Burt’s Bee’s Citrus Scrub, and I love it. I used to use one by Clean and Clear, and that worked really well for me, but I decided to try seeing if going all natural would make more of a difference.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Let me know what your secrets are in the comments!

Clinique Even Better Moisturizer Makes Me Look Even Better

Hey all!  First off, I deeply apologize for my lack of posts in the last month and a half. The holidays are crazy…

Second, I’d like to introduce you to my new skin secret weapon: Clinique Even Better moisturizer.

Photo Cred to !

Now, I know I’m young and therefore don’t have the age spots and wrinkles that some “mature” ladies have, but my skin has always been weird. Blotchy, dry in some spots, with random breakouts wreaking havoc on my face. As soon as one cleared up, another whole patch had decided to get personal. It’s been, to put it lightly, a pain in the butt. But this lotion has really made a difference in my face: specifically, my skin tone and the blotchiness from acne scars. And I’ve only been using it for three days.

I like that it has SPF 20, and that it is lightweight. It has a slight floral scent, but I don’t find it to be cloying and it fades out pretty quickly. It gives my skin a slight glow after use, and it has not irritated my sensitive skin, one of the reasons why I love Clinique products.

However, the price is a downfall. $42 for 1.7 fluid ounces is a lot. But, I think it has been worth it because of the improvement on my face in so few days. It is also important for me to mention that I have started using Burt’s Bees Citrus Scrub nightly, and have also moved back to dry altitude, so that could be positively impacting the improvement on my face. But I definitely think that this moisturizer has something to do with it.

You can probably pick up a sample at your local Clinique counter or possibly even Sephora? I forget if they sell Clinique if you want to give it a try!
