Making the Switch

Hi everyone!!!

Although it’s not completely beauty-related, I want to talk to you all about one of the best things I’ve done for myself in the last month – going off of dairy. I know this may not work for everyone, but so far, so good for me!

I feel that I should note that I did not cut dairy products out of my life to be “trendy”. When I was about 12 years old, I was diagnosed with a bunch of food “sensitivities”, including dairy. As a result, I really didn’t eat a whole lot of it, because it made my stomach hurt. I always kept milk in my fridge for my coffee, though, and ate cheese and cheese snacks, and pizza. Finally, I decided “what’s the point? I know this isn’t good for me anyway” and decided to see if I could survive with next-to-no dairy in my life. I picked up a small container of coconut milk to put in my coffee, and stopped eating cheese, pizza, and other things with dairy.

And guess what? Aside from a non-related medical problem I’ve been having recently, I feel great. I had a stubborn patch of pimples on my forehead, between my eyes, for over a month that would not respond to ANYTHING, and guess what? They’re gone. Poof. I don’t feel bloated, either.

Mind you, I still eat butter, and occasional cheese, but no more milk in my coffee or tea (which i would have up to 4 or 5 times a day). I honestly don’t notice a difference with the coconut milk – it doesn’t impart a coconut taste to my coffee. (Although that is what I get when I’m home at Dunkin Donuts! Yumzo), so if you don’t like coconut, don’t let that scare you. It honestly doesn’t taste different to me.

Overall, I’m SO happy I made the switch, especially when I see the benefit it has had on my skin. I plan to keep this up!

Just thought I’d share the latest I’d found in beauty news in my life! Have you made a diet switch that’s made a big difference, whether outwardly physical or not?

XOXO

How To: Wear Cowgirl Boots!

How do you feel about cowgirl boots? Where I grew up, no one wore them; my mother has collected them for a few years and I always felt embarrassed by it. Now that I live in the Southwest, I see people rocking them all the time, and it has totally inspired me!

1) The boots! I chose a neutral brown, because they’re totally wearable with a lot of outfits. Let’s face it, cowgirl boots are not cheap; you want to get bang for your buck!

2) Try a floral dress! This look is more casual; something you would wear on the weekends (or around school!). It plays up the country feel of the boots.

3) Skinny jeans are a great way of showing off your boots! Especially if they have an interesting design.

4) With your LBD! Give your going-out shape a breath of fresh air, and your feet a rest! It’s unexpected, but still adorable!

5) This top. Again, another bargain from my recent Forever 21 order. This would look so cute with the skinny jeans, or just a plain black skirt and the boots!

6) While this dress is a little more casual, it could be work-appropriate if you have a more flexible office dress code. The stripes are really flattering, but the long sleeves keep you from being over-exposed.

7) A denim mini! Again, a more casual option, but still absolutely perfect for the upcoming spring and summer days where you want to show a little leg!

8) A bustier top! This one is under $15! This would look adorable paired with skinny jeans and a cardigan or light jacket!

March Favorites!

Hey guys!

So I know it’s only the 13th, but I wanted to show you guys some things that I’ve been loving this month! Get excited!

1) This top I just bought from Forever 21! So cute! I’m totally planning on wearing it on a date next week with tight jeans and boots!

2) Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick. I love these things. Plus, that color just looks so fresh and springy.

3) Teal pumps. How cute are these?? I am picturing so many outfits with these. They’re so fun and perfect for spring and summer.

4) The Limited’s lace skirt. Okay, I don’t actually own this, but I love lace anything. This skirt is just so classy but at the same time totally on trend.

5) MAC Cosmetics Satin Taupe eyeshadow. This color literally looks good on everyone, and is extremely versatile.

6) This bracelet. LOVE the color combination. I’m going to try to make this next week, hopefully I will have a DIY post!

7) Okay, I know this picture is from forever ago! She’s definitely not preggers in this pic! But her hair! Oh my goodness, her hair. I’m obsessed. I need to start growing my hair, NOW!

8) A Chanel pearl necklace. A girl can dream.

What are some of your favorite things this month?

Jazz Up Your Brush Collection!

Hey guys! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been mega stressed with finals this week. Crafting always makes me feel better. Back home I have a giant craft arsenal, but with limited space here at school I had to improvise!

I decided to take some old, cheap makeup brushes and give them new life. They are from Eyes Lips Face, I’ve accumulated them over the years from Target, and they are $1 each, plus tax; or you can buy them online here.

Using my neon pink Sinful Colors nail polish (color 920), I painted the white body of the brush using 2 coats.

The final result:

I’m interested to see how the paint holds up! I was thinking that this would be a fun idea for a gift for a  friend who is just getting into makeup  since an entire set is only $12 (I don’t have the whole set). Additionally, this would be perfect for a pre-teen birthday party! Instead of gift bags, buy each girl a brush set, buy some cheap, fast-dry nail polish, and paper towels! They would be cute with little designs on them too, if you’re especially nimble!

Happy crafting! Hope you will enjoy this new DIY section I’ve added!

Lindsay Lohan: Her Hair Through the Years

Hello friends,

I apologize for my lack of posts in the last month. It’s been crazy. I promise that I will try to do better.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Lindsay Lohan – one of the first non-Disney cartoon movies I remember watching was Parent Trap. Let’s take a look at her appearance since then.

so cute as the long-lost twins. all natural red hair.
her “Mean Girls” days..
looking a little older, experimenting with some strawberry blonde highlights
Platinum blonde, with a thinner face and body
Auburn hair, center part, looking a little healthier in the face.
Back to platinum, but still with a healthy-looking body and smile.
At the 2012 Golden Globes, looking extremely gaunt and washed out. She looks much older than her true age of 25 years.
