April Favorites! Yay for Spring!

Hi everybody! I compiled a list of my favorite things for spring and a little shopping guide!

I’m a really cheap shopper – I love shopping, but I like to find bargains. When I make these pictures, I choose things that I actually have (or would) spend for. I don’t really put super expensive things, because I can’t afford them, so why tempt myself? 🙂 Makes sense, right?

Also, totally random, but I am LOVING Dove raspberry and dark chocolate swirls right now… nomnomnom.

A few things about this: 1) I don’t know where the jeans are from. I am just loving the colored jeans trend. 2) The purple pumps and the turquoise sandals are both from ALDO.

With that said…

1) The white dress – I am loving the draping, it is jersey, it is $36.99. A little white dress is perfect for spring and summer barbecues! Plus the white will make you look super tan and sleek.

2) The coral dress – I just got this in the mail! It is such a beautiful color and fit! I usually have a problem with Forever 21 dresses being too short, but this one is modestly right above the knee. It’s adorable, and you can dress it up or down!

3) The turquoise statement necklace – You know me and turquoise. I love this, and it would look perfect with either of the above dresses, or a dark top and white jeans… so cute. I also love the ribbon closure.

4) The pink gemstone earrings – At just under $10, these are such a steal! They’re really luxe looking, and would look so great with a variety of colors like white, turquoise, black, or brown. They make a statement while being simple at the same time. So cute!

5) The nude wedge sandal – How cute are these? And seriously, they’re a classic spring shoe! They’ll look great with jeans, dresses, and skirts, and the price is great! They also come in metallics, which are always a great neutral option!

6) The turquoise earrings – I just love turquoise. I would wear these with my hair in beachy, half-pinned waves. They’ll make any skin tone glow.

7) The pearl bracelet – It’s a fresh twist on a classic. I love all of the detailing, and that you could wear it with either jeans or a fancy dress and it’d be totally appropriate.

What do you guys think? What are you loving this spring?

Review: Sephora by OPI TrendTips in Feathers

Hey guys!

So this weekend I picked up these nail stickers at Sephora for some birthday nail excitement! I have used the Sally Hanson ones before, but I thought these ones were slightly less tacky looking, so I decided to give them a shot.

I love this print. I think it’s so cute  but not over-the-top. These were easy enough to apply! I didn’t have a problem with them wrinkling. I do have two gripes, though: there is not a file included to remove the excess, and they are not very sticky so it’s hard to get them to stick to the nail without a lot of pressure, which I found annoying. I found using my normal-size file to be awkward and not abrasive enough to cleanly remove the excess.

This photo is my left hand. Not too bad! There’s a little bit of chipping on the pinky, but I think it’s because the strips were not cleanly filed off.

This is the right hand. As you can see, it’s much, much worse. Look at that chunk that fell off on my middle finger! And all of the chipping on the tips of the nails! Seriously, for $12 plus tax, I expected much, much better. I’m going to stick to Sally Hanson’s.  I put these on Saturday night, and there’s already this much chipping on Monday… that’s not okay with me. These need some improvement.

Makeup Story

How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I started wearing mascara and eyeliner in 7th grade, so probably around 12 or 13.

2. How did you get into makeup?
I always loved art and crafty stuff as a kid. My mom has the most amazing vanity with a drawer just full of makeup. I don’t remember exactly how old I was when I started playing with it, but I remember when I would be home sick or just on the weekends, she would let me just play with it. I’d come up with obscene look using eight lipsticks, wash it all off, and then do it again – for hours.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?
I love MAC, Maybelline, Sephora brand, Clinique, and ELF; among many, many others!

4. What does makeup mean to you?
I think it’s just something to boost self-esteem and confidence. But at times makeup definitely feels like an art form. It’s also a pretty good way to bond with people – by enhancing what other people have, and making them feel more attractive, you can create a good relationship. Also, it’s just fun!

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
Maybelline Fit Me foundation, any mascara, MAC naked lunch eyeshadow, and Tarte Emphaseyes Gel liner. That’s pretty much my routine anyway!

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?
Its so versatile: you can go from a very natural look, to a very ‘done’ look in a matter of minutes and products.

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?
There’s good in each one! I love both, though I do see a benefit in splurging on things that I use often, and won’t have to get rid of quickly, like eyeshadow, gel liner, and brushes. The drugstore always has gems though. I always get foundation, mascara, and more trendy colors there.

8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?
Get yourself a good brush set, and practice! Figure out what looks best, and don’t be afraid to play around until you find looks and colors you like.

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?
Lipliner that is significantly darker than your lips/lipcolor. Why does one want to look like they have a dirty ring around their mouth?

10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?
There are some really talented people on there! I can waste hours and hours watching their videos. It’s a great place to get inspirations, get reviews before you purchase something, and find looks to wear!
