New Years Eve Beauty/Style Tips

Happy New Years Eve!! Can you all believe in a few hours we’ll be in 2013?! That’s crazy to me.

I hope you all had a lovely holiday season. I enjoyed the time to pig out and spend with family and friends. Starting 2013, it’s back to the gym/eating healthy/bikini body mindset!

I know I’m late and probably should’ve posted these tips yesterday, but better late than never right? These are (as usual) just my opinions! Enjoy the New Years Eve parties, beauties!!

Tip Number 1: Don’t Forget the Legs. As ladies, we spend SO much time perfecting our faces. If you’re wearing a skirt or dress (or shorts!) tonight, don’t neglect your legs! This picture has been circulating Pinterest for a few weeks, from the blog Maskcara. Genius!!Image

A little temporary tan/shimmer, plus it makes her already incredible legs look fantastic! You already know I went out and bought this at Target today. 🙂

Tip Number 2: Don’t bust yourself in Heels. I HATE wearing heels. Especially where I live in New England, with all the snow and ice out there, it’s just not worth it to me. I’d rather be comfy in some sparkly flats! I actually saw a pair identical to these ones at Target today!Image

Tip Number Three: Try Some False Lashes. It’s one of a handful of nights where even the craziest falsies go! I prefer a more natural looking falsie, but hey – anything goes!Image

Tip Number Four: Whatever you wear, be confident in it! Just because your best girlfriends are all wearing sequin dresses, if you feel most confident in skinny black jeans and a flowy top, rock it! Confidence will always win! Same goes with makeup looks too!

Be safe tonight lovelies!

Makeup from Tutorials

Hi!

I had a random thought last night as I was getting ready to go out – what was the first time you ever were reading/watching a tutorial and realized ‘Hey! I already own that product!”

For all the makeup I own, I feel like it should happen to me a lot more often than it does. So my collection grows. Le sigh.

I can still remember the first time it happened to me. I’m pretty sure it was a tutorial in Seventeen magazine. It was how to get Angelina Jolie matte lips, and the lipliner they used was Simply Spice from Avon. I really wanted that lip look, and rummaging through my mom’s makeup drawer (I think I was maybe 11 when this happened – lipliner was foreign!) I found Simply Spice.

…I still own and use it. 🙂 Even though it is a little too brown for my lips everyday. I think it might just be a sentimental thing.

What was the first product you realized you had?

April Favorites! Yay for Spring!

Hi everybody! I compiled a list of my favorite things for spring and a little shopping guide!

I’m a really cheap shopper – I love shopping, but I like to find bargains. When I make these pictures, I choose things that I actually have (or would) spend for. I don’t really put super expensive things, because I can’t afford them, so why tempt myself? 🙂 Makes sense, right?

Also, totally random, but I am LOVING Dove raspberry and dark chocolate swirls right now… nomnomnom.

A few things about this: 1) I don’t know where the jeans are from. I am just loving the colored jeans trend. 2) The purple pumps and the turquoise sandals are both from ALDO.

With that said…

1) The white dress – I am loving the draping, it is jersey, it is $36.99. A little white dress is perfect for spring and summer barbecues! Plus the white will make you look super tan and sleek.

2) The coral dress – I just got this in the mail! It is such a beautiful color and fit! I usually have a problem with Forever 21 dresses being too short, but this one is modestly right above the knee. It’s adorable, and you can dress it up or down!

3) The turquoise statement necklace – You know me and turquoise. I love this, and it would look perfect with either of the above dresses, or a dark top and white jeans… so cute. I also love the ribbon closure.

4) The pink gemstone earrings – At just under $10, these are such a steal! They’re really luxe looking, and would look so great with a variety of colors like white, turquoise, black, or brown. They make a statement while being simple at the same time. So cute!

5) The nude wedge sandal – How cute are these? And seriously, they’re a classic spring shoe! They’ll look great with jeans, dresses, and skirts, and the price is great! They also come in metallics, which are always a great neutral option!

6) The turquoise earrings – I just love turquoise. I would wear these with my hair in beachy, half-pinned waves. They’ll make any skin tone glow.

7) The pearl bracelet – It’s a fresh twist on a classic. I love all of the detailing, and that you could wear it with either jeans or a fancy dress and it’d be totally appropriate.

What do you guys think? What are you loving this spring?

How To: Wear Cowgirl Boots!

How do you feel about cowgirl boots? Where I grew up, no one wore them; my mother has collected them for a few years and I always felt embarrassed by it. Now that I live in the Southwest, I see people rocking them all the time, and it has totally inspired me!

1) The boots! I chose a neutral brown, because they’re totally wearable with a lot of outfits. Let’s face it, cowgirl boots are not cheap; you want to get bang for your buck!

2) Try a floral dress! This look is more casual; something you would wear on the weekends (or around school!). It plays up the country feel of the boots.

3) Skinny jeans are a great way of showing off your boots! Especially if they have an interesting design.

4) With your LBD! Give your going-out shape a breath of fresh air, and your feet a rest! It’s unexpected, but still adorable!

5) This top. Again, another bargain from my recent Forever 21 order. This would look so cute with the skinny jeans, or just a plain black skirt and the boots!

6) While this dress is a little more casual, it could be work-appropriate if you have a more flexible office dress code. The stripes are really flattering, but the long sleeves keep you from being over-exposed.

7) A denim mini! Again, a more casual option, but still absolutely perfect for the upcoming spring and summer days where you want to show a little leg!

8) A bustier top! This one is under $15! This would look adorable paired with skinny jeans and a cardigan or light jacket!

March Favorites!

Hey guys!

So I know it’s only the 13th, but I wanted to show you guys some things that I’ve been loving this month! Get excited!

1) This top I just bought from Forever 21! So cute! I’m totally planning on wearing it on a date next week with tight jeans and boots!

2) Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick. I love these things. Plus, that color just looks so fresh and springy.

3) Teal pumps. How cute are these?? I am picturing so many outfits with these. They’re so fun and perfect for spring and summer.

4) The Limited’s lace skirt. Okay, I don’t actually own this, but I love lace anything. This skirt is just so classy but at the same time totally on trend.

5) MAC Cosmetics Satin Taupe eyeshadow. This color literally looks good on everyone, and is extremely versatile.

6) This bracelet. LOVE the color combination. I’m going to try to make this next week, hopefully I will have a DIY post!

7) Okay, I know this picture is from forever ago! She’s definitely not preggers in this pic! But her hair! Oh my goodness, her hair. I’m obsessed. I need to start growing my hair, NOW!

8) A Chanel pearl necklace. A girl can dream.

What are some of your favorite things this month?

Lindsay Lohan: Her Hair Through the Years

Hello friends,

I apologize for my lack of posts in the last month. It’s been crazy. I promise that I will try to do better.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Lindsay Lohan – one of the first non-Disney cartoon movies I remember watching was Parent Trap. Let’s take a look at her appearance since then.

so cute as the long-lost twins. all natural red hair.
her “Mean Girls” days..
looking a little older, experimenting with some strawberry blonde highlights
Platinum blonde, with a thinner face and body
Auburn hair, center part, looking a little healthier in the face.
Back to platinum, but still with a healthy-looking body and smile.
At the 2012 Golden Globes, looking extremely gaunt and washed out. She looks much older than her true age of 25 years.

How to Wear It: The Leather Jacket

Leather jackets are such a timeless staple. I love all the new modern cuts and styles, because they make them so much easier to wear, and makes for some adorable outfits!!

I love neutral colors, especially for such an investment piece, as well as classic fits and detailing. My favorite outfits let the rest of the outfit follow the trend.

I personally don’t like these ones as much…

I just feel that these are too trendy for investment pieces. If they were faux leather and not expensive, I think I would feel differently about them.

Nail Art

Hey everyone!

How do you feel about nail art/nail designs? I like a lot of them on the younger age brackets, but it is SO easy to come out looking tacky. (IMHO).

A particular favorite of mine is the design on a french manicure – like instead of white on the tip, doing a neon with polka dots or something like that. I think it’s a more work-appropriate way to get away with nail art!

By the way – if you ever are in Hong Kong, check out the designs available at pretty much any nail salon! I couldn’t believe it when I saw it – so many rhinestones, colors, and LENGTH! Oh, my goodness, the length of those bad boys was out of control! Anyway, enough of a rant, here are some pictures.

And the bad….

Lips!

Hey guys! Hope everyones doing well!

Todays post is about… you guessed it… lips! Without further adieu, I show you the good. (In my opinion anyway).

neon! so cute.

And… the bad! I’m sorry.. I’m a naturalist. I don’t understand fake lips. There’s plenty of ways to make your lips look plumper than they are without injections or black lipliner! Intervention!!

The Do’s and Don’ts of Lace

I love lace. And it’s everywhere. I can’t get enough. It can be so ladylike, or a little naughty, but usually classy. Sometimes, though, it is done wrong.

Lace Do’s:

Mixing with other dainty patterns - do do do! Extra points for the contrast in fits of her tops.

I love this look so much... the dress is so girly but still shows some skin, and the boots toughen it up. Summery, beautiful, LOVE

YAY for brights! By paring it with a classic top, she keeps it classy.

Satin + Lace = Ultimate Nice Girl Combo. The body-skimming fit keeps it modern

A little sassy, a little girly, totally glamorous!

I love how there's two colors going, and the top is looser, keeping it classy!

Lace Don’ts:

I hate this... lace is by default classy. Please don't trash it up by pairing a dark bra underneath. A dark camisole would be preferable to this.

It's so matronly, especially for someone her age.

WHY!? Why do these exist!?

Does it have a rooster neck? Yuck.

I wish these had even a tan underpart - the length of the pants, please! this just looks strange.

Her seasons are mixed up - the dress would have been so cute with brown boots! Nix those unflattering layers!

Do you guys agree with me? Let me know!
