New Years Eve Beauty/Style Tips

Happy New Years Eve!! Can you all believe in a few hours we’ll be in 2013?! That’s crazy to me.

I hope you all had a lovely holiday season. I enjoyed the time to pig out and spend with family and friends. Starting 2013, it’s back to the gym/eating healthy/bikini body mindset!

I know I’m late and probably should’ve posted these tips yesterday, but better late than never right? These are (as usual) just my opinions! Enjoy the New Years Eve parties, beauties!!

Tip Number 1: Don’t Forget the Legs. As ladies, we spend SO much time perfecting our faces. If you’re wearing a skirt or dress (or shorts!) tonight, don’t neglect your legs! This picture has been circulating Pinterest for a few weeks, from the blog Maskcara. Genius!!Image

A little temporary tan/shimmer, plus it makes her already incredible legs look fantastic! You already know I went out and bought this at Target today. 🙂

Tip Number 2: Don’t bust yourself in Heels. I HATE wearing heels. Especially where I live in New England, with all the snow and ice out there, it’s just not worth it to me. I’d rather be comfy in some sparkly flats! I actually saw a pair identical to these ones at Target today!Image

Tip Number Three: Try Some False Lashes. It’s one of a handful of nights where even the craziest falsies go! I prefer a more natural looking falsie, but hey – anything goes!Image

Tip Number Four: Whatever you wear, be confident in it! Just because your best girlfriends are all wearing sequin dresses, if you feel most confident in skinny black jeans and a flowy top, rock it! Confidence will always win! Same goes with makeup looks too!

Be safe tonight lovelies!

The Cosmo Voxbox

I got the honor of being sent the 2012 Cosmo Voxbox last week 😀

If you’ve never heard of Influenster , I suggest you go look at their website! It’s really cool, and you might get the chance to try new stuff like I did.

This is a peek inside of what I got, and some mini-reviews.

A Venus Razor with a Venus + Olay cartridge (not pictured – but was in the yellow bag). It’s kind of hard for me to be unbiased on this one, because shaving can become a pretty dire situation. I’ve been loyal to Gilette’s Venus since I first ever started shaving, but with the price of razors only going up (and me being a broke college kid), I’ve been pretty stuck to the basic razor. I love the Venus + Olay cartridge, I definitely will purchase more of those. I find it makes shaving easier and I haven’t had my usual horrible razor burn on my underarms.

Sample Size of Bath and Body Work’s Forever Red.  Described on B&BW’s website as “our most luxurious fragrance ever”, it just was not my kind of scent. It was a little too… fruity or something. I’m not really good at determining what a perfume smells like, so forgive me, but I prefer the “clean” scents and this does not fall under that category. Don’t get me wrong, it smells good, but it just isn’t the type of perfume that I like to wear. I also try not to get too attached to Bath and Body Works’ perfume, since I fell in love with Breathe Romance back in sixth grade and then they discontinued it 😦

Ghiradelli Gourmet Sea Salt Escape Chocolate Bar. Um, YUM! This milk chocolate bar is loaded with almonds and a kiss of sea salt, so it hits on that salty-crunchy-sweet taste/texture explosion that I love SO much. This bar is really, really good.

Pilot Frixion Pens in Black and Red. These are nice. I like how smoothly they write, and the fact that they are ERASABLE! Whaaaaaaat?! It’s perfect for a student like me, because I’m a weirdo but I can’t stand taking notes in pencil, yet I make a mess of my notes with all my scribbling-out mistakes. This is perfect. I seriously love them.

Disclaimer: All of these products were complimentary, but reviews are my true opinion. I am not being compensated for writing these reviews.

Dreaming of Food

Because I had my wisdom teeth taken out. I guess all my wisdom has been lost. 🙂

"I feel pretty...oh so pretty"

“I feel pretty…oh so pretty”

I haven’t been able to touch my face for five days because it’s been extremely swollen and tender, (also, I probably shouldn’t be near anything remotely pointed while on Vicodin) which means I’ve been makeup free since Thursday. Luckily, I haven’t left my house!!

Which also means I’ve been trolling Pinterest… salivating… and I also realized that my food board is the biggest one yet. Shocker. As I’m writing this, I’m waiting for the dough for my English muffin bread to rise. Thanks, Jillee! My little brother requested that I make it, as I discovered the recipe this summer and got him hooked. Seriously, if you’re a carb lover, TRY IT! It is so, sooooooo good. I’m looking forward to actually being able to eat something that will feel like real food in my stomach… please please no more soup.

Which got me thinking about what to bake for the holidays. And for, you know, everyday. Weight loss, schmeit loss.

Like this recipe for pretzel crusted brownies. COME ON!! Why didn’t I ever think of that!? It’s genius!!

Or this recipe for Arancini! Yummy!!

What are some of the foods you make for the holidays?

Quick! Somebody Return Me to Starbucks…

…Because this caramel flecked mocha is on the LOOSE!

Yeah, sorry, I’m feeling corny. But seriously: the hair has been done. I love it so far, although I’ve never felt more pale

Better go put on my St Tropez. If I’m gonna be pale, I’m gonna be orange baby!!

A Satisfying, Guiltfree Mocha

Hello beautiful people!
Are you on a weight loss mission like I am? Do you ever wish your morning coffee could sustain your appetite? Do you not like eating in the morning? Do you hate plunking down $5 for an iced mocha?

Join. The. Club.

So, I present to you: My guiltfree mocha.

I’m sure there are similar recipes out there. I know I probably didn’t come up with the idea. But regardless, I love it, and it’s been helping me keep from gaining a single pound during this first month of school (Jimmy Johns! Dominos! Chinese takeout, oh my!)

What you’ll need:

A Blender

Ice

Chocolate Protein Powder

8oz of Skim Milk

Black Coffee, brewed and chilled, amount based on your preference of coffee-chocolate ratio

Basically, dump all of your ingredients into the blender and give that baby a whirl! I usually get a nice frothiness on top, adding to the luxe latte feeling.

(I drank most of it. Yumzo)

Makeup from Tutorials

Hi!

I had a random thought last night as I was getting ready to go out – what was the first time you ever were reading/watching a tutorial and realized ‘Hey! I already own that product!”

For all the makeup I own, I feel like it should happen to me a lot more often than it does. So my collection grows. Le sigh.

I can still remember the first time it happened to me. I’m pretty sure it was a tutorial in Seventeen magazine. It was how to get Angelina Jolie matte lips, and the lipliner they used was Simply Spice from Avon. I really wanted that lip look, and rummaging through my mom’s makeup drawer (I think I was maybe 11 when this happened – lipliner was foreign!) I found Simply Spice.

…I still own and use it. 🙂 Even though it is a little too brown for my lips everyday. I think it might just be a sentimental thing.

April Favorites! Yay for Spring!

Hi everybody! I compiled a list of my favorite things for spring and a little shopping guide!

I’m a really cheap shopper – I love shopping, but I like to find bargains. When I make these pictures, I choose things that I actually have (or would) spend for. I don’t really put super expensive things, because I can’t afford them, so why tempt myself? 🙂 Makes sense, right?

Also, totally random, but I am LOVING Dove raspberry and dark chocolate swirls right now… nomnomnom.

A few things about this: 1) I don’t know where the jeans are from. I am just loving the colored jeans trend. 2) The purple pumps and the turquoise sandals are both from ALDO.

With that said…

1) The white dress – I am loving the draping, it is jersey, it is $36.99. A little white dress is perfect for spring and summer barbecues! Plus the white will make you look super tan and sleek.

2) The coral dress – I just got this in the mail! It is such a beautiful color and fit! I usually have a problem with Forever 21 dresses being too short, but this one is modestly right above the knee. It’s adorable, and you can dress it up or down!

3) The turquoise statement necklace – You know me and turquoise. I love this, and it would look perfect with either of the above dresses, or a dark top and white jeans… so cute. I also love the ribbon closure.

4) The pink gemstone earrings – At just under $10, these are such a steal! They’re really luxe looking, and would look so great with a variety of colors like white, turquoise, black, or brown. They make a statement while being simple at the same time. So cute!

5) The nude wedge sandal – How cute are these? And seriously, they’re a classic spring shoe! They’ll look great with jeans, dresses, and skirts, and the price is great! They also come in metallics, which are always a great neutral option!

6) The turquoise earrings – I just love turquoise. I would wear these with my hair in beachy, half-pinned waves. They’ll make any skin tone glow.

7) The pearl bracelet – It’s a fresh twist on a classic. I love all of the detailing, and that you could wear it with either jeans or a fancy dress and it’d be totally appropriate.

What do you guys think? What are you loving this spring?
